More Indian investors are investing abroad, whether it's ₹25,000 into a U.S. ETF or a larger amount spread across several markets. The platform you pick decides what you can buy, where your money is held, and what it costs.
INDmoney gives you U.S. stocks, ETFs, and LSE-listed UCITS ETFs through GIFT City.
Paasa goes further. You get direct access to exchanges across the U.S., UK, Switzerland, Europe, Hong Kong, Japan, and Singapore, and an account in your own name with Interactive Brokers as custodian. There is no minimum account size to get started.
This blog compares the two side by side, and shows where Paasa gives you more.
Quick Overview
- Your own account: With Paasa, your account is in your own name, with Interactive Brokers as custodian. With INDmoney, your holdings are held through its GIFT City entity.
- Wider access: INDmoney covers U.S. stocks and UCITS ETFs. Paasa covers those, plus stocks and ETFs across the UK, Europe, and Asia.

Note: INDmoney offers U.S. stocks and some UCITS ETFs. Paasa gives you access to US stocks and all UCITS ETFs, and adds direct access to other global exchanges, trading in multiple currencies, and interest on idle cash. If you plan to diversify beyond the U.S., Paasa is the right choice for you.
Paasa is also multi-currency. You can hold cash in more than one currency and trade each market in its own currency, for example a London-listed stock in GBP, a Swiss stock in CHF, or a Hong Kong stock in HKD. When you do need to convert, it costs a flat 0.03% (min $2) at the mid-market rate.
Uninvested cash in your Paasa account earns interest on balances above $10,000, so money waiting to be deployed is not sitting idle.
How Your Money Is Held
Before comparing features, it helps to know where your money actually sits. Both platforms use SEC and FINRA regulated U.S. custodians with SIPC protection. But only Paasa gives you a brokerage account in your own name, with your assets held by our custodian Interactive Brokers, a global broker serving clients in over 200 countries.
| INDmoney | Paasa | |
|---|---|---|
| Account structure | Held through INDmoney's GIFT City entity, which deals with the US broker directly. Your holdings are recorded in its ledgers | Individual account in your own name |

| SIPC insurance | Up to $500,000 (incl. $250,000 cash), but the custodian's direct client is INDmoney's GIFT City entity, not you | Up to $500,000 (incl. $250,000 cash) per user |
| Where your cash sits | In an account of INDmoney's GIFT City entity | With Interactive Brokers as custodian, in your name |
| If the platform shuts down | Holdings are moved to another broker through its clearing partners, under IFSCA supervision | Your assets stay with Interactive Brokers, in your name |

| Withdraw to | Your linked Indian bank account | Any bank account in your name, including US and international banks |
Note: With Paasa, your account is held in your own name, segregated from the broker's own assets.
INDmoney operates as a principal Global Access Provider. It holds the relationship with the U.S. broker, and your U.S. holdings are recorded in books and ledgers maintained in GIFT City. With Paasa, the account is in your name, and Interactive Brokers holds your assets as custodian.

Conclusion
Both INDmoney and Paasa let Indian investors invest abroad. But they are not equal.
INDmoney works if all you need is U.S. stocks and a limited selection of UCITS ETFs.
Paasa works for investors at any stage who want access to multiple markets (US, UK, Switzerland, Europe, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and more), an account in their own name, the flexibility to hold and trade in multiple currencies, and interest on idle cash.
If you want more markets, your own account, and lower costs on everyday trades, Paasa is the better choice. Open a free Paasa account to get started.
